Alumni Homecoming 2008

    Where it all began . . .

Is a joint project of the Alumni Association and the Student Government Association, dedicated to all Alumni. Activities include the Alumni Picnic, Meet the Cavs, Class of 1958 Reunion, Crockett Hall Reunion, Silver Saber Spirit Award Competition and SGA Homecoming Dance.Come out and Cheer on the Cavs as we take on Lambuth! September 25-27, 2008.

Red & Gray Tailgating Package '08

Is being offered for for an annual, tax-deductible donation of $500.00 or more to The University of Virginia’s College at Wise Alumni Association. The Red & Gray Tailgating Package includes the following: (tax-deductible amount $435.00)

  • 2008 Highland Cavalier Football Season Parking Permit
  • 2 Highland Cavalier Football Season Tickets
  • 1 Super Raffle Ticket
  • UVa-Wise Alumni logoed tailgating items

Our goals are to ensure safety for pedestrian foot-traffic, bring equity to our donors and to enhance the football tailgating experience at UVa-Wise.To take advantage of this opportunity, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations, at 276-328-0128.

Parking Permit entitles holder to:

  • One parking space in the Red & Gray parking lot.
  • One parking space = One Vehicle or One Tent.
  • Bring alcohol into the lot in your vehicle. Alcohol will be BYOB. Kegs are prohibited.
  • Parking permits must be visibly displayed at all times on rearview mirror or tent.

Entering the Red and Gray parking lot:

  • Gates will OPEN 2 ½ hours prior to game time. No Exceptions.
  • Each vehicle entering the lot must have a Red and Gray parking lot permit.
  • If you forget your permit, you will not be able to enter the Red and Gray parking lot. 
  • Parking spaces will be available on a first-come first-served basis.
  • Holding parking spaces for others is not allowed.

Virginia ABC Rules of the Red and Gray parking lot:

  • Virginia Law requires individuals to be at least 21 years of age to consume alcohol.
  • Consumption of alcoholic beverages is ONLY permitted in the Red and Gray parking lot.
  • Permit holders are responsible for ensuring that any person drinking alcohol at their tailgate is of the legal drinking age (21).
  • Under-age drinking will not be tolerated. Individuals drinking or supplying alcoholic beverages to individuals under the legal drinking age will be subject to a ticket and/or arrest.
  • Virginia ABC Officers and UVa-Wise Campus Police reserve the right to check for appropriate identification from any individual in the Red and Gray parking lot.
  • Alcoholic beverages in glass containers are prohibited.
  • Alcoholic beverages are to be poured into colored-plastic cups.

Any violations of these rules and regulations may result in immediate suspension of your parking privileges in the Red and Gray parking lot.

Super Raffle '08

The Alumni Association and Highland Cavalier Club proudly present our 50 - 50 drawing on November 1, 2008. Tickets are $100 each, and only 500 are sold. Half of the proceeds is given away in cash prizes with the top prize being $10,000!

Student-Alumni Picnic

A popular event among students, faculty, staff, and Alumni Board members. Alumni Board members grill hamburgers and hotdogs for the entire College community, serving around 900 annually. Coming, April 29, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Betty J.Gilliam Sculpture Garden.

14th Annual Community Spring Swing Golf Tournament

Join the Alumni Association and the Athletics Department for the Community Spring Swing Golf Tournament in Spring 2009. Benefits our students through events and scholarships.

23rd Annual Cavalier Alumni $elebration

Our largest fund-raising event will be at the Lonesome Pine Country Club on May 9, 2009. Contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@uvawise.edu.for tickets. Proceeds are earmarked for the operating expenses of the Alumni Association.

Class of 2009 Tailgate

To be held on May 14, 2009 in the Red & Gray Parking Lot at Carl Smith Stadium. There will be lots of great food, entertainment and door prizes!

Alumni Receptions & Awards Ceremonies

On the eve of Commencement, Seniors and other outstanding students will be invited to receptions across campus and be given their awards in their prospective Major. The Alumni Association co-sponsors this activity with the Commencement Committee.

Regional Alumni Gathering

Over the past couple of years, the College has returned to its commitment of visiting alumni throughout the states of Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina. Our purpose is to bring together alumni in specific regions and update them on the happenings at the campus. In addition, it's a great way for alumni to get to know fellow alums living in their area. If you have thoughts on an activity in your area, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations today!
