UVa-Wise professor to discuss German anarchists on ‘With Good Reason’
Tom Goyens, assistant professor of history at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, will be featured on With Good Reason, a radio production of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, during the week of July 19-25 as part of the program “Darwin of the Mind.”
Goyens will discuss how he seeks to dispel the myth that all anarchists are created equal through his book “Beer and Revolution: The German Anarchist Movement in New York City, 1880-1914.” Instead he argues that anarchists fought for everything from the eight-hour work day to food co-ops and other organizations run by consensus – things now taken for granted in our society.

Goyens’ appearance on “With Good Reason” can be heard locally on WVTF (90.5 FM) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23. The broadcast may also be downloaded at the “With Good Reason” Web site at www.withgoodreasonradio.org.
"With Good Reason” is broadcast on 10 public radio stations in Virginia, Tennessee and Washington, D.C. For complete listings of shows and times, visit the program's Web site at www.withgoodreasonradio.org.
