UVa-Wise to offer On-site Admissions Day at local high schools

Seniors at Wise County high schools may apply for admission to The University of Virginia’s College at Wise during regular school hours and without leaving their high school campuses during the College’s On-site Admissions Day.

The UVa-Wise Office of Admissions will conduct On-site Admissions Day at the following high schools:

• Pound High School: Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2-3:30 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m.
• J. J. Kelly High School: Wednesday, Oct. 1, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• St. Paul High School: Wednesday, Oct. 8, 9-11 a.m.

Until last year, students could only submit an application for admission and the required documents via the College’s Web site, by mail or by personal delivery. Once all documents were received, students would be informed of an admissions decision within two weeks. With On-site Admissions Day, students can submit all application materials and be informed of an admission decision within one session.

Students who complete the application process, pay the $25 application fee and provide transcripts and SAT scores will receive an admission decision on site. Those who are admitted will receive a free t-shirt. Students who are interested in obtaining a financial aid estimate should complete the estimate form, which may be obtained from the guidance office at each school.

Seniors will have the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from various offices on campus while completing the application process. The Office of Admissions will evaluate applications for admission and inform each applicant of his or her admissions status on-site. The Office of Financial Aid will address questions and will assist with financial aid and scholarship estimates.

For more information, contact the Office of Admissions at 276-328-0102.
